A drug dealer stabbed a music store security guard to death after being questioned on suspicion of stealing a CD, Norwich Crown Court has heard.
David Watson, 20, of Hackney, London, is accused of murdering Paul Cavanagh, 30, of Rockland St Mary, Norfolk.
Mr Cavanagh was stabbed in the neck on 18 December 2006 at the HMV store in Chapelfield shopping centre, Norwich.
Mr Watson denies murder, wounding with intent and attempting to wound with intent, and the trial continues.
The court was told by prosecutors that Mr Watson stabbed a second security guard in the shoulder and tried to slash an off-duty policeman trying to detain him.
'Cocaine traces'
One witness described the incident as "like something out of the film Psycho", jurors were told.
Mr Cavanagh, whose fiancee Clare was pregnant with their first child, suffered a 14-centimetre wound which severed a jugular vein, jurors were told.
Prosecutors alleged that Mr Watson was afraid police would find crack cocaine in his bag.
The jury was shown CCTV footage of Mr Cavanagh struggling to restrain Mr Watson in an office at the store.
Graham Parkins QC, prosecuting, said part of the incident had been witnessed by another store detective, Gary Locke.
Mr Parkins said tests later revealed traces of cocaine and diamorphine in Mr Watson's bag.
