Nearly 5,000 homes and business across Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex are still without electricity after the major storms on Thursday.

EDF Energy said the storm caused so much damage to the electricity network it was similar to having more than one month of faults all in one go.

The company said it had hundreds of engineers working and most people should have power by the end of Sunday.

However, some people in remote areas may have to wait until early next week.

There are over 1,000 homes in Norfolk without power, 1,000 in Suffolk and 2,500 in Essex.

Engineers from EDF's parent company in France have also been drafted in to cope with the electricity supply problems.
