Fresh leads in unsolved rape case
The Gallops
The woman was attacked on a path known as The Gallops
Detectives investigating the unsolved rape case of a 71-year-old woman in Norfolk almost 13 years ago have got fresh leads following a media appeal.

The victim, now aged 84, was attacked on a path known as The Gallops, at West Harling Heath, Norfolk on 7 June 1994.

She is to feature in a TV programme that offers money for information from the public.

An investigation was carried out before the case was subject to a cold case review in 2004.

The victim was interviewed for the programme at her home in the north west of England.

'Brave woman'

A profile of the offender suggested he was local or familiar with the Norfolk area.

He was described as of Mediterranean appearance, about 5ft 7ins, aged between 15 and 17 and travelling on a bike.

Det Ch Insp Neil Firm is hopeful further leads will be generated when the case is featured on ITV's new series "Reward", which is offering £10,000 for information leading to an arrest.

"As a result of local publicity surrounding this case earlier this week, we have received a number of interesting calls from members of the public which we are now following up," he said.

"I would urge people to watch the programme on Thursday as it's possible that the reconstruction will jog their memories.

"It also features an interview with the victim, who is now 84. It is only right that this very brave woman sees justice done."
