Cancer victim fights 'inappropriate' parking fine

A Norfolk hospital that fined a cancer patient £40 for parking when she stayed longer than expected because of extra blood tests, is to back down.

Julia Williamson paid for two hours parking at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital at King's Lynn during a check up.

Her doctor wanted to carry out blood tests and this took five hours.

She received a parking fine, but her appeal was rejected. Following publicity she has been told her case will be reconsidered.

Deputy chief executive Gwyneth Wilson said: "We will consider cases where people have been delayed by clinical appointments or when visiting and they feel they have received a parking fine inappropriately.

"We have asked Mrs Williamson to contact us again and we will look at her appeal again."
