Developers have announced plans to knock down the hotel which formed the backdrop for the opening scene of the television comedy, Dad's Army.
Property firm Zog Investment believes the Anchor Hotel in Thetford, Norfolk, is an eyesore which could be redeveloped for housing and shops.
The hotel's Norvic Room was used for the opening scene of the popular comedy in 1968.
The hotel also became a regular base for members of the cast and crew.
Many stayed at the hotel during filming.
Mark Lahiff, a partner at Zog Investment, described the hotel as an "eyesore" and said their intention was to demolish the property.
He added: "It's very early in our planning appraisal, but we are looking at a town centre development to improve the area."
He said their plans provided for residential accommodation and a new supermarket, which would bring much-needed jobs to the area.
