Greek sand sculptures vandalised
Great Yarmouth sand statue
Sand sculptures depicting life in ancient Greece are damaged
Three sand statues depicting buildings of ancient Greece have been damaged in an attack by vandals.

The figures were part of a sand sculpture festival at Great Yarmouth in Norfolk and organisers said repairs would cost thousands of pounds.

Specialist sculptors will now have to be flown in from the USA and Israel.

A Norfolk Police spokeswoman said the statues were damaged on Sunday and she appealed for anyone with information to contact them.

Insp Dave Ball of Norfolk Police said: "It is outrageous that vandals have done this to such beautiful statues that have brought so much to the seafront.

"It is clearly in all our interests to catch the perpetrators and bring them before the courts."
