Detectives hunting a conman who stole £8,000 from a woman in her 80s have released a sketch drawn by the victim.

The man, purporting to work for the water board, called at the woman's home in Chapel Road, Attleborough, Norfolk, on Saturday afternoon.

While he distracted her in the kitchen, a second man entered the property and took £8,000 in cash.

The men then walked off. The victim, an artist, drew the sketch of the man who had knocked at the door that day.

The victim, who has not been named, said: "I got a good look at this man. He had very dark, curly hair and looked like quite a handsome, healthy lad.

'Jog memory'

"He looked as if he was someone in authority. He had on a navy jacket that had a logo on it."

The first offender is said to be a white man, 5ft 10in tall, with collar-length dark wavy hair, wearing jeans and a dark jacket. He spoke with an Irish accent.

The second man is also described as white, of a similar height to the first but with lighter-coloured hair.

Investigating officer Det Con Jason Davis, of Norfolk Police, said: "It's certainly unusual for a victim of crime to be able to offer such a detailed drawing of the suspect and we hope this sketch will jog someone's memory."
