Jobs axed as salad factory shuts
Del Monte UK has announced it is to close its plant in Norfolk, with the loss of 250 jobs.

The company bought the factory at Methwold near King's Lynn when Fisher Foods collapsed in 2002.

In February this year, the company said it had not been making money since the takeover, and workers have been on notice of redundancy.

The Methwold factory produces packs of chilled salad for supermarkets and fast food outlets.

Managing director Peter Miller said they were very sad to come to the closure decision, but despite the best efforts of everyone involved there was no business alternative.
