The best beaches in the country have been named by a consumer magazine.
The North Yorkshire resort of Whitby was voted the UK's number one beach, by Holiday Which? magazine for having "a postcard-perfect harbour".
Wells-next-the-Sea, Norfolk, came second because of its salt marshes and golden sand.
The Essex resort of Frinton-on-Sea was placed third. The resort was praised for its 1950's feel and low-key atmosphere.
A report published in April by the Keep Britain Tidy organisation also praised Frinton, together with Bell Wharf beach in Essex for their facilities and clean sands.
