Residents marching against bypass

Village residents on the north side of Norwich are fighting bypass plans
Residents of a village which is home to one of the county's largest turkey farms are marching in protest against plans for a new bypass around Norwich.

Weston Longville is near the proposed route of a new northern bypass and also close to a large turkey farm.

A walk has been organised by campaign group called "Too Far West".

They will march through surrounding countryside and woods to show the beauty of countryside that will be lost if the village route is chosen.

Campaigner Jackie Everett, says she wants Norfolk County Council to completely rethink its approach to reducing congestion because it would completely change the village's character.

"I don't think building new roads anywhere is necessarily the best thing for Norwich.

"The council needs to look at other cities in Europe where they have come up with alternatives to building roads such as investing in trams and light railways."
