Six people have been seriously injured in a crash involving a coach and minibus in Norfolk.

Another 11 people were treated at the scene for minor injuries and shock after the accident on the A134 at Northwold on Tuesday morning.

The six serious casualties were taken to hospitals in Norfolk and Suffolk.

The coach was carrying 30 day trippers from Stowmarket, Suffolk, heading for King's Lynn. Six people were in the minibus going to a Thetford day centre.

Two people were taken to King's Lynn's Queen Elizabeth Hospital and four to West Suffolk Hospital, Bury St Edmunds.

Their injuries were said to be serious but not life-threatening.

Insp Paul Rush, of Norfolk police, said: "This was a large scale incident which required the efforts of all emergency services who worked well together to ensure that casualties were treated as soon as possible.

"I am also grateful to those members of the public who offered their services at the scene."

The A134 was closed while the vehicles were recovered and an oil spill cleared following the accident at about 0940 BST.
