Plans to build a white water canoeing facility in the heart of Norwich have been revealed.
British Canoe Union (BCU) plan to develop recreation and conservation facilities on the River Wensum.
The proposals range from upgrading the existing facilities to the creation of a new canoeing channel and fish pass.
A local BCU spokesman said the facility would mean canoeists will no longer need to travel to Northampton or Nottingham to learn white-water skills.
A public consultation last June highlighted wide-ranging support for the idea.
However, further research was needed on water availability, environmental impact and technical feasibility, the BCU added.
The project could cost betweem £100,000 and £1m, depending on which proposal is approved.
