Turbines approved amid criticism
Wind turbines
Plans to build the turbines were first revealed in 1999
Plans to build four new wind turbines in Norfolk are going ahead, despite objections by local residents.

The turbines, to be built along the South Denes, were given planning permission by Great Yarmouth Borough Council on Wednesday morning.

Objecters had asked that permission be reconsidered due to changing circumstances, such as plans to build a large number of flats at Gorleston.

Western Wind Power, which is building the turbines, first applied in 1999.

The scheme was rejected by the borough council, but was later overturned at a planning appeal.
