A senior Norfolk police officer is at the centre of an investigation after allegations about his behaviour at a police conference earlier this week.
The inquiry follows claims eastern area Chief Supt Ray Adcock, 47, made offensive remarks to delegates and guests at the Warwickshire conference.
He is also alleged to have commented inappropriately about a steel band.
Essex Police are conducting the inquiry, which was launched by Norfolk's Acting Chief Constable.
Officer transferred
A spokesman confirmed that the internal investigation was under way following allegations about a senior officer during the conference.
"The officer has been transferred from his current role pending the outcome of the investigation," the spokesman said.
The allegations come three months after the resignation of Tom Lloyd as Chief Constable of Cambridgeshire. It followed his drunken behaviour at a police conference in Birmingham.
