Firm's owner admits manslaughter
MW White, Ketteringham
The foreman died in an industrial shredder at a recycling depot
The owner of a paper recycling firm has admitted manslaughter after the death of a worker.

Kevin Arnup was sucked into a shredder at the MV White's recycling plant at Ketteringham, near Norwich, in December 2003, Norwich Crown Court heard.

The managing director of the firm Paul White, 42, of Drayton, near Norwich, will be sentenced on 28 July.

White, as a director of the firm, also admitted failing to ensure the workers' safety under the Health and Safety Act.

Mr Arnup, 36, of Thorpe Hamlet, who had three children, was the foreman at the plant.

The court heard that the mains current should have been switched off before anyone tried to clear a blockage, but it was common practice for this rule to be igored both by workers and by White himself.
