Policeman seriously hurt in crash
An off-duty policeman is in hospital with serious injuries after a car was in collision with a group returning from a Halloween party.

Norfolk Police say the officer was with a group of revellers including children who were on their way home from a party in Freethorpe on Saturday evening.

The man is in a stable condition in intensive care at the James Paget Hospital in Gorleston.

The driver of a red Vauxhall Cavalier was arrested and then released on bail.

A police spokesman said: "The car was travelling along the B1140 road from Reedham into Freethorpe when close to the junction with Common Road it skidded and collided with a group of pedestrians."

A number of the group suffered injuries with one sustaining a broken shoulder.

Police are appealing for witnesses.
