The town centre assault was captured on CCTV
Seven people, including two juveniles, have been jailed for attacking a Portuguese man in a town centre.

A CCTV camera captured footage of the man being kicked unconscious outside a kebab shop in Thetford, Norfolk, in July 2003.

Passing sentence on Tuesday, Judge Peter Jacobs at King's Lynn Crown Court described the attack as "disgraceful".

The seven men and women, all aged between 15 and 33, had all pleaded guilty to violent disorder.

They were given custodial sentences ranging between six and 18 months.

The defendants were Danny Hughs, 21, Gerri Hughs, 19, Adam Goldson, 23, Lisa Bradshaw, 18, Linda Firth, 33, a 16-year-old male and a 17-year-old female.

All were convicted of violent disorder. Goldson and the two juveniles were also made the subject of Anti-Social Behaviour Orders by the judge.

Victim run over

The incident took place outside a restaurant in White Hart Street, Thetford, just after midnight on 5 July last year.

The victim was standing with a friend outside when a fight broke out which moved inside and then back out onto the street.

The man was spat on and punched, kicked and stamped upon.

Police said one of the defendants had even rode over the victim with a bicycle as he lay on the ground after the beating.

He was unconscious when emergency crews arrived and was taken to the West Suffolk Hospital where he was treated for his injuries.
