Herbie Hide has twice been WBO boxing champion
The former heavyweight boxing champion Herbie Hide has been arrested and charged with carrying a knife.

The 32-year-old boxer from Bawburgh near Norwich, Norfolk, was arrested by officers in Norwich city centre at 0300 GMT on Sunday.

He was taken to Bethel Street Police Station where he was questioned and later charged with carrying a knife.

Mr Hide, twice World Boxing Organisation (WBO) champion, was released on bail and is due to appear before city magistrates on Friday 19 December.

Earlier in the evening he had been treated at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.

A hospital spokesman was unable to say what injuries the boxer had suffered.

Norfolk Police said they were also investigating an alleged assault on Mr Hide which took place on Saturday night at the Time nightclub on the Riverside in Norwich.
