Missing Daniel search widens
Daniel Entwistle
Daniel was last seen on Saturday evening

The search for missing seven-year-old Daniel Entwistle is being widened after a second night without any sign of him.

Daniel was last seen by his parents at 1700 BST on Saturday, as he left home to visit a friend in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk.

More than 60 police officers aided by coastguards, military staff and helicopter crews are searching the area.

Residents are being asked to search outbuildings and business premises locked up over the bank holiday weekend, and to check any CCTV pictures.

Thousands of posters have been put up around the town and bank holiday visitors are being urged to look out for the boy.

At a news conference on Sunday, his mother Paula Entwistle appealed to him: "Please come home, you are not in trouble."

Detective Superintendent Julian Gregory is leading the search.

He told the BBC on Monday: "We are keeping an open mind - we do not know what has happened to him.

"We are all desperate for his safe return and we hoping that he has simply run away and that he will return safe and well."

Fears for Daniel grew after his bike was found on a riverside quay, 10 minutes from his home.

On Sunday night, police checked lock-ups and containers nearby.

Daniel's mother said he had gone missing before, but that he was found two hours later - in the area where his bike was found.

Daniel's red and white bike was found near the River Yare

Mrs Entwistle said: "He's outgoing, he's pleasant, he can be mischievous like a lot of children and he's a bit of a loner.

"But he says 'hi' to anybody. He has friends that live locally and we just thought he was there."

Mrs Entwistle, has two other sons aged 10 and two was comforted at the news conference by Daniel's father, 41-year-old David.

The family originally come from Burnley in Lancashire, but moved to Norfolk three years ago to be nearer Mrs Entwistle's family.

Daniel is described as 3ft 2ins tall with a strong northern accent.

He was wearing a blue Adidas T-shirt with a motif on the chest, a blue track suit and grey trainers.
