Tortured African boy dies
Issa Kamara
Issa was being treated for epilepsy
A 14-year-old boy from Sierra Leone who was treated in Norfolk after being tortured by rebels has died.

Issa Kamara suffered severe burns and could not open his hand after he was held over a fire while his mother was forced to watch.

The youngster was brought to Norfolk in 2001 following a campaign by the Eastern Daily Press.

He had three operations on his hand at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital where staff gave their time for free.

After three months Issa was able to go home.

But after suffering worsening epileptic seizures, Issa slipped into a coma earlier this week and died in hospital in Sierra Leone.

He was buried on Thursday at Port Loko, near to the new home he was about to move into with his mother.
