Bomb squad blows up store package

Bomb disposal experts have carried out a controlled explosion after a suspicious package was discovered at a supermarket in Cheshire.

Police evacuated Sainsburys on Church Street, in Warrington town centre, at about 1115 GMT after the unknown parcel was found in the store's entrance.

Cheshire Police said: "A controlled explosion was carried out and the package proved to be innocuous."

A number of nearby roads which had been closed, reopened just before 1400 GMT.

Cheshire Police said they would not comment on what the package was.
