Man shot in legs on city street

A 23-year-old man has been shot in the legs by a masked gunman outside a bookmakers in Liverpool.

The victim was talking to another man outside Bet Fred on Belle Vale Road, on Monday evening, when he was blasted with a shotgun.

He was taken to hospital suffering from pellet wounds to his legs and was discharged after treatment.

Merseyside Police said the motive for the shooting was unclear and are now examining CCTV footage from the area.

The gunman is believed to have been about 5ft 8ins (1.72m) tall and was wearing dark clothing and a balaclava.

Crime Scene Investigators have carried out forensic examinations at the scene and house-to-house enquiries will be conducted later.

The force has increased uniformed police patrols in the area to reassure the community.
