Service to remember crash victims

An event to remember the victims of road crashes is being held by a charity in Liverpool.

People who have been bereaved or injured were attending the ceremony in St John's Gardens, which has been organised by the RoadPeace charity.

A silence will be observed and doves released in remembrance of those who have died.

A service, which will hear the names of those who have died, will then be held at Liverpool Parish Church.

The Lord Mayor of Liverpool, councillor Mike Storey and members of the emergency services are also attending.

Pauline Fielding, from Heswall in Wirral, told BBC Radio Merseyside the event was to help people who were suffering.

She told BBC Radio Merseyside: "Fifteen years ago my son Andrew was killed in a road crash by a person who didn't stop and was never traced.

"That day changed my life and I don't want others to have to suffer in the way that I have done."
