Reverend Ross Moughtin and the Right Reverend Richard Blackburn
The stone was laid on Monday

The new Bishop of Warrington has carried out his first public engagement after his welcome service two days ago.

The Right Reverend Richard Blackburn laid a foundation stone for the new £1m church hall at Christ Church in Aughton, near Ormskirk, on Monday.

The new development, which will comprise of activity rooms and office space, is due to be finished in 2010.

Reverend Ross Moughtin, of Christ Church, said it was "a great day and honour".

"Laying the foundation stone is very important at our church and it was tremendous that the Bishop could join us, especially with it being his first engagement," he added.
