Fake clothes found in alarm call

Counterfeit goods
Police believe the haul had a street value of £95,000

Police on Merseyside stumbled across a haul of counterfeit goods after being called to a possible break-in.

They found the items after going to investigate a house alarm which was going off in Stockbridge Village.

The items included designer handbags, purses, watches, boots, clothes and jewellery with an estimated street value of £95,000.

Two women, aged 42 and 44, were arrested on suspicion of handling counterfeit goods.

They were taken into custody and questioned about the items, before the younger woman was released without charge

The 44-year-old woman has been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

The discovery was made by Merseyside Police's Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) Taskforce.
