Man 'critical' following shooting

A 23-year-old is being treated for serious injuries following a shooting in Liverpool.

The victim was with a friend in Gribble Road, Fazakerley, close to Copplehouse Lane, when he was shot in the back and buttocks by another man on foot.

It happened at about 1900 GMT, but the motive was not clear, a police spokesman said.

The man made his own way to Fazakerly Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

The area has been cordoned off for forensic investigations to take place.

Officers are carrying out house-to-house enquiries.
