Ten people have been arrested over the murder of a teenage Army cadet who was stabbed to death in Liverpool.

Joseph Lappin, 16, was stabbed in the heart after being chased by youths, near the Shrewsbury House Youth Club, in Everton in October 2008.

Joseph's friend, Callum Naden, 17, was also stabbed but survived the attack.

The males, two aged 16, two aged 17, two aged 23, and four others aged 18, 20, 21 and 22, are held on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.

The suspects, all from the Vauxhall area, have been arrested for a second time, after being detained earlier in the police investigation.

Detectives said the suspects were being held at various police stations across Merseyside and are due to be questioned.

Joseph, who was a member of the Liverpool Scottish Regiment, had been enjoying his first night at the youth club with friends when they were attacked.
