Murder squad detectives have released a picture of a man who died after being hit by a car in Liverpool.

Francis Molyneux was knocked down by a dark-coloured vehicle in Holt Road, Kensington at 2230 BST on Thursday.

He died the next day, a day before his 33rd birthday. He is thought to have been involved in earlier argument with two men in the same road.

Det Ch Insp Tim Keelan said: "His family should have been celebrating instead they are mourning their loss."

'Well-liked'

He said: "We are continuing to appeal to anyone who may have witnessed an earlier incident between the victim and two young men.

"It is thought that at around 2100 BST, Mr Molyneux had been involved in an argument with two men somewhere near the junction of Ling St and Holt Road.

"This is a busy road and we are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this to come forward. We are trying to piece together his movements between this incident and the time of the collision.

"Mr Molyneux, was well-known and well-liked in the Kensington community and we are determined to bring those responsible for his tragic death to justice."

Four men who were arrested in connection with the incident have been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
