Schoolboy, six, struck by lorry

A six year-old boy suffered serious injuries when he was struck by a large lorry in Cheshire.

The youngster, understood to be on his way home from school, was hit by the HGV on Knutsford Road, Latchford, Warrington, just after 1600 BST.

A spokesman for Cheshire Police said the boy was taken to Warrington Hospital but later transferred to Alder Hey Hospital on Merseyside.

His condition is described as "serious but stable" added police.
