Man remanded over double stabbing

A man accused of stabbing a man to death before trying to kill his 14-year-old son has appeared in court.

Gary Finlay, 46, is charged with the murder of Graham McKenna, 45, and the attempted murder of the ex-Army corporal's son, Michael.

The pair were stabbed in Claughton, Wirral, last month on their way to watch Everton play at Goodison Park.

Mr Finlay, 46, of Alexandra Road, Birkenhead, was remanded in custody by Wirral magistrates on Friday.

No application for bail was made and Mr Finlay will appear at Liverpool Crown Court on 19 March.

Mr McKenna and Michael were walking towards a bus stop on Upton Road at the time of the attack on 10 January.
