A man has been charged with stabbing to death a man in Wirral and attempting to murder his teenage son.

Graham McKenna, 45, died after he and his and son Michael, 14, were attacked in Claughton last month on their way to watch Everton play at Goodison Park.

Gary Finlay, 46, of Alexandra Road, Birkenhead, will appear before magistrates on Friday.

He is accused of murdering Mr McKenna, a former Army corporal, and the attempted murder of his son.

Mr McKenna and Michael were walking towards a bus stop on Upton Road at the time of the attack on 10 January.
