The families of those killed in the Hillsborough disaster are leading a list of people being honoured with freedom of the city of Liverpool.
The city council agreed the list of local people and organisations nominated on the Lord Mayor's honours list at a meeting on Wednesday evening.
The relatives of the 96 Liverpool fans killed at Hillsborough and singer Gerry Marsden are to receive the accolades.
A council spokesman said: "It is the equivalent of a local knighthood."
Marina Dalgish MBE, wife of former Liverpool striker Kenny Dalglish, will be given the Citizen of Honour for her work helping breast cancer patients.
Meanwhile, the Hillsborough families will receive the Freedom Roll of Association.
It recognises their work in the community and support for each other since the 1989 tragedy at the FA Cup semi-final with Nottingham Forest.
