Girl sexually assaulted in park

A 16-year-old girl has been sexually assaulted as she walked through a park in Merseyside.

The victim was walking through Wallacre Park in Wallasey at about 1830 GMT on 2 January when a man approached her from behind and pinned her against a wall.

The struggle between the girl and the offender attracted the attention of a woman walking her dog. The man ran away towards Hillside Road, police said.

Detectives have appealed for the dog walker or other witnesses to call them.

The offender is described as being possibly of mixed race, around 5ft 6in (1.68m) tall, of medium to chubby build and was wearing black casual clothing. He received a scratch to his face during the attack.
