Stab victim was looking for bike

A man who is critically ill after he was stabbed had gone out to find his brother's stolen mountain bike when he was attacked, police have said.

Sean Finnan, 22, of Childwall, Liverpool, went to Stockbridge Village on Monday to try to find the bike after a tip-off.

But when he got out of a friend's van on Barons Hey, he was stabbed in the leg and hit over the head.

Det Ch Insp Tim Keelan said it was an "absolutely horrendous" attack.

"He has been severely attacked, stabbed in the leg, and his condition is critical.

"We obviously want to find out who the offenders are," he said.

Officers want to speak to anyone who may have seen two men waiting in the area before the incident happened.
