Toddler dies after arson attack

Francesca suffered severe burns in the fire

A murder investigation has been started after a three-year-old girl died in hospital three weeks after an arson attack at her home in Liverpool.

Francesca Bimpson, along with her two sisters, brother and parents were injured in the blaze in Norwood Grove, Everton on 2 December.

Francesca, who suffered extensive burns, died at 1230 GMT at Alder Hey Hospital, said Merseyside Police.

Two men, aged 45 and 43, have been bailed pending further inquiries.

The toddler's siblings 17-month-old Anne-Marie; Christina, aged eight; and 14-year-old Keiron were treated for smoke inhalation.

Their mother Eleanor Skelhorne, 36, suffered minor injuries and smoke inhalation.

The father, Kieron Bimpson, 36, broke his legs jumping from a first-floor window.

A spokesman for Merseyside Police said: "A murder inquiry has now been launched, two men are currently on bail."
