Woman bailed over fatal M62 crash

A 19-year-old woman arrested after a man died in a crash on the M62 in Cheshire has been released on bail.

The woman was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving after a lorry crashed through the central reservation on Wednesday.

The motorway was closed between Eccles and Warrington.

Cheshire Police said the victim was a 50-year-old man from York. The 38-year-old lorry driver from Manchester was seriously injured.

He is in hospital, but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening, police said.

Drivers were stuck for up to six hours in two miles of tailbacks.

Highway Agency officers made "welfare visits" to drivers stuck in freezing temperatures in their cars.
