Three people have been arrested in connection with the murder of 16-year-old Joseph Lappin and the attempted murder of his friend in Liverpool.

Joseph, an Army cadet from Old Swan, was stabbed after being chased by a gang in Everton on 20 October.

He died soon afterwards. His friend, Callum Naden, 17, was also stabbed but is recovering from his injuries.

The men, aged 23 and 22 and from Everton, and a 17-year-old youth from Kirkdale will be questioned later.

Five bailed

Five people arrested on suspicion of the murder and attempted murder were released on bail last week pending further inquiries.

Joseph was with Callum and another friend when he was attacked after his first visit to Shrewsbury House Youth Club.

Police said Callum was stabbed twice during the incident and was lucky to be alive.

The third boy sustained minor injuries.
