A drug addict who shot his stepfather has been jailed indefinitely.

The body of Thomas Grundy, 56, was found with a number of bullet wounds at his home on Maritime Place in Liverpool on 31 October 2007.

Graeme Kee, 30, also of Maritime Place, pleaded guilty to manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility at an earlier hearing.

He was given an indeterminate sentence for public protection at Liverpool Crown Court.

The court heard how Kee, a schizophrenic, went into his stepfather's bedroom and shot him three times.

It was also told that in the four days before the shooting he had used cocaine with an estimated street value of £1,000.

Judge Henry Globe, QC, the Recorder of Liverpool, ordered he must serve four years before he can apply for parole.
