Three held after man's body found

Three men have been arrested on suspicion of murder following the discovery of a man's body.

The body of John Crook, 31, was found by police at an address on Mill Lane, Wavertree, Liverpool, on Saturday night.

A post-mortem examination established that he died as a result of multiple injuries sustained during an assault.

Forensic investigators from Merseyside Police attended the scene and house-to-house inquiries have been carried out.

Witness appeal

Two men, aged 40 and 55, from the Wavertree area, and a 36-year-old man from the Dovecot area of the city, are being held.

But Merseyside Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses.

Det Supt Dave Kelly said: "I'm keen to speak to anyone who saw John Crook in the hours before his death.

"Information they have could prove vital to the investigation."
