Polish films, food and art will feature at community events

A new project to encourage friendship between Liverpool people and the Polish community in the city is being set up.

Merseyside Polonia has been organised by local charity the Yellow House and the city council.

Polish films, food and exhibitions of Poland's heritage, history and culture will be featured at various community centres across the city.

Monthly events will give people the chance to get to know the community better, a spokeswoman said.

Gosia McKane, project co-ordinator, said: "Merseyside Polonia is all about fostering strong, positive relationships between people of different cultural backgrounds, as well as giving the Polish community a voice and opening up our history, heritage and culture to the whole city."
