Restaurant fire causes evacuation

A fast food restaurant and a number of neighbouring businesses were evacuated when a fire broke out in Chester.

Fire crews and five appliances were called to McDonalds in Foregate Street in the city centre at 1230 BST after reports that the roof was ablaze.

The fire involved the air conditioning unit. Foregate Street was temporarily shut while crews tackled the blaze but has since re-opened.

The fire's cause is being investigated but is not being treated as suspicious.
