Church restoration work complete

Fazakerley Church
The church is 100 years old

A thanksgiving service is being held at a church to mark the completion of a £175,000 restoration scheme.

Work carried out at Emmanuel Church in Fazakerley, Liverpool, includes repairs to stained glass windows, improving footpaths and re-pointing brickwork.

The interior of the church, which is 100 years old, has been improved and the church hall has been redecorated.

Funding for the project came from The Veolia Environmental Trust and money raised by the church's congregation.

Churchwarden David Hughes said: "This is the start of a very exciting period for Emmanuel Church.

"So much has already been completed but there is still more to achieve.

"Activities of different types are planned for each month throughout the following year, as well as other improvements to the building that will equip us to look to serve the community and remain a place of Christian witness for another 100 years."
