A commemorative walk in honour of 11-year-old Rhys Jones, who was shot dead in Merseyside last year, has been staged in Liverpool.

Rhys was shot as he walked home from football practice in Croxteth on 22 August 2007.

The walk began at St George's plateau at 1200 and passed by Liverpool and Everton football grounds before ending in Stanley Park.

A 17-year-old has denied murder and six are accused of assisting an offender.

The trial is due to get under way at Liverpool Crown Court on 2 October.

Four other people will go on trial after its conclusion accused of perverting the course of justice in relation to the inquiry.
