The first anniversary of the death of Liverpool schoolboy Rhys Jones takes place on Friday.

The 11-year-old was shot through the neck as he walked home from football training across a pub car park in Croxteth Park on 22 August 2007.

A 17-year-old youth has denied murder and is awaiting trial. Six others are accused of assisting an offender.

Rhys's parents Stephen, 45, and Melanie, 42, have attended every hearing in the case so far.

The trial is due to get under way at Liverpool Crown Court on 2 October.

Four other people will go on trial after its conclusion accused of perverting the course of justice in relation to the inquiry.
