Two held after fatal hit-and-run

Two men have been arrested after a motorist died in a hit-and-run car crash in Cheshire.

The woman was driving a Ford Mondeo, which was in collision with a Vauxhall Vectra in the Appleton Village area of Widnes on Thursday morning.

Two men who ran from the crash scene, near the junction of Liverpool Road and Highfield Road, were arrested nearby.

One man was treated for a head injury after the incident. Police have appealed for witnesses.
