Two held after 10-year-old shot

Two teenagers have been arrested after a 10-year-old boy was shot in the head with an air gun.

Police said the boy was "lucky" he only suffered minor injuries in the incident which took place on Sunday evening.

The youngster was playing with a friend in a field near his home in Fleet Lane, St Helens, Merseyside, when he was hit.

Two youths, aged 15 and 18, from the Parr area were arrested on suspicion of wounding. They have been released on bail pending further inquiries.
