Two hurt in police van collision

Two women were injured when their car was in a collision with a Greater Manchester Police van.

A 59-year-old suffered a broken collar bone and a 19-year-old sustained a broken arm in the crash on New Road in Littleborough on Tuesday night.

The police van also collided with another car, leaving the male occupant with minor injuries.

The police driver, who was responding to an emergency call about a serious assault, was not seriously hurt.

An investigation into the cause of the collision is under way.
