Third man charged over hate crime

A third man has been charged in connection with a homophobic attack that left a man with serious head injuries on Merseyside.

The 18-year-old victim was with two friends when was attacked on Tarbock Road in Huyton last Friday.

Police said a 19-year-old man, from Huyton, had been charged with witness intimidation and was due before Knowsley magistrates.

The victim remains in a critical condition in Whiston Hospital.

Two other men, both 19 and from Huyton, have appeared in court charged with grievous bodily harm.

An 18-year-old man, from Prescot, was arrested on suspicion of assault and released on bail pending further inquiries.

Merseyside Police are continuing to appeal for information about the incident, which they are treating as a homophobic hate crime.
