Armed raiders target betting shop

Police are seeking three robbers armed with an axe and a machete who raided a betting shop in Merseyside.

The trio entered Ladbrokes bookmakers on Larkhill Lane, West Derby, on Tuesday and used the axe to smash the glass divide in front of the counter.

They then stole some cash before fleeing on foot just after midday.

The men are all described as white, in their 20s and between 5ft 7ins (1.70m) and 5ft 10ins (1.78m) tall. Police are studying CCTV footage of the raid.

One man was wearing a white t-shirt with a grey, sleeveless, hooded top over it, blue Adidas trousers with white stripes down the side, white and black trainers and a black balaclava which had a white, rectangular logo on the forehead area.

The other two men were both wearing a blue/grey striped hooded top with the hooded part tied up tight to their faces.

One of them was also wearing navy tracksuit bottoms and black trainers and had a rucksack on his back.

Anyone who witnessed the robbery is asked to contact police.
