Special prayers are to be held at a Liverpool mosque for a newsagent killed at his shop.

The service will take place at the Al Rahma mosque on Granby Street on later.

Father-of-ten, Abdo Saeed Al-Selwi, 47, of Kensington, was shot in the chest at Carol's newsagent in Page Moss Parade, Knowsley, on Saturday morning.

A 37-year-old man from the Dovecot area was arrested by police on suspicion of murder and has been sectioned under the mental health act.

Friends described Mr Al-Selwi as a man who worked hard to send money back to his large family in Yemen.

He was found by a customer but died at the scene a short time later.

More than 40 shopkeepers and members of the Yemeni community in Liverpool gathered outside Mr Al-Selwi's store in Dinas Lane on Tuesday to pay tribute to him.
